About Windows XP ISO
Windows XP was one of the most exhilarating product from the house of Microsoft corporation at the time when it was unveiled. It was manufactured on 25th August 2001, and after a gap of 2 months, it was released in the public domain on 25th October 2001. Years and years have gone, but the craze and fan following of Windows XP is it still in the heart of millions of users.
Story of Microsoft XP during its development
Launched in the year 2001, but the whole story began far in the late 1990s when it was planned to be called “Neptune”. Yes, you heard it right! Neptune was an operating system that was based on well known “Windows NT kernel”.
It was thought that Neptune would fulfill all the requirements of a frequent user, but it was not suggested for the professionals. For a businessman, an updated version of the Windows 2000 operating system was planned to be manufactured.
But both the above projects were dropped and to fill the gap a new operating system came into play. Initially, it was named as “Whistler”, a code name given to our on Windows XP operating system. It was the first operating system that was not based on Microsoft disk operating system.
Features of Windows XP ISO
Windows XP was launched with the terms of exciting features that thrilled the whole Internet. following are the significant features that make it possible behind the huge name and fame of this product
Earlier, in Windows, the application does not have direct access to the graphics related hardware such as the GPU (Graphical processing unit). In place of that, the Windows operating system has a Graphics Device Interface, aka GDI. But when Windows XP was created, they replaced the original GDI with another one that is Graphics Device Interface, which is known as GDI + system as it was to be coded only with C ++ language.
After introducing the GDI+ subsystem, the images and text on the screen started looking for better due to anti-aliasing that is the smoothening of the jagged corners in text and graphics.
Due to such innovative graphic implementations, the developers were able to take graphics and visual feel of the operating system to the next level. They created menus in such a way that it has shadows under them, making it look more realistically floating on the screen.
With the new feature of Remote desktop on Windows XP, it enables the users to connect to another PC and remotely can take control or even can access the file as per the requirement.
With the introduction of a RAM Management system, which was popularly known as “Prefetch”, helps in reducing the loading time of software on Windows XP. After enabling Prefetch, it made the startup of Windows and the opening of any software faster just by caching the required files that are needed by a specific software into a cache in the random access memory of the computer.
It helps in the reduction of a number of disk reads, which gradually push the applications to run faster on Windows XP as compared with that of its previous versions.
A new feature was added in Windows XP, with a Chance of reverting the updates of any driver installed for any hardware component, which is given to the users. It was quite helpful as by chance if any driver of software is not installed properly, then it could be reverted back to its original state.
Windows XP was also launched with a copy protection system. Through this feature, with every new product activation system, each license of Windows has a unique ID, which is unique to each computer as it was generated based on the hardware of a computer.
Later on, this unique ID was then sent to Microsoft via the Internet or call.
However, if someone did not send the unique ID of this computer within 30 days of activation, then their Windows wouldn’t work anymore.
The whole navigation of Windows XP was revamped and was given a better look at it. You will get a dual column design at the start menu in which the installed programs were displayed. In this column, the recently used app was displayed in the front, and users are also allowed to pin any application to the Start menu for easy access.
With the visual uplift and better graphics, the taskbar looked better than its previous versions which used to have a plain taskbar. Additionally, the taskbar had loads of features like a grouping of the windows opened by the same application in a single tab.
And now you can access the single window by hovering the mouse pointer over the collapsed tab.
Few modifications are also done for navigations through files. A Dynamic sidebar is now added to the Windows explorer, which contains the various tasks based on the type of folder opened.
More improvement in devices
The Microsoft team also includes support for USB 2.0, Power management system, firewire, and audio hardware support.
